Been Pickin'

Lots of rustic goodies...

two nail kegs, oil can, clipboard, hanger, two crates, metal carrier, and a wooden floor grate.
And a few more goodies...

Christmas tree stand, shoe stretcher. world atlas, tea set, and some white dishes.
The dishes included a sugar (without lid), creamer, and 6 cups.

All will eventually go into the shop, except the white dishes. They are mine. For $1.00.

I've been looking for just the right cups to drink my afternoon tea.
I'm not a frilly girl so those real pretty and dainty floral tea cups are just not for me.
I've wanted something to fit my practical farm gal spirit while still being pretty.
These little white cups fit me just right.

Recently Listed

I opened a new section, Pickin' Cool Crates, in my Old Time Pickers' shop.
Had to. I am constantly pickin' up crates when I'm out and about.
I was able to list a few of them, but I have plenty more. I just need more hours in the day.

They're great for pickin' cool storage and display!
More pickin' cool crates are available at the shop

With the shopping season upon us, please consider homemade and vintage for the special people in your life.
Best pickins'!

I'm a gal who hates to shop.
And the shoppin' season is upon us.
So will I shop the big stores? No, thank you.

I like to pick...give me a barn or shed, give me an old shop, or give me an auction.
That's where I like to spend my time.

I believe in less is more and what I do have is from very frugal finds that have a story.

I'll be thinking of those out there fighting the crowds in the big stores this weekend while
I wander out myself to find an old shop or two so I can have a pickin' cool time. Good luck to us all.

Have a good Monday morning!

The Adventures of Roo

Last weekend, I came home from pickin' and decided to unload the truck.
Roo came running to join me.
Reminder - Roo the Rooster is not mine.
He just showed up one day not too long ago and has never left.

He immediately saw his reflection in the truck.
And the entertainment began.

Hey...who is that good looking guy?

He's quite handsome.

Hmmm...let's see if he follows me.

Yep! He's over here, too!

Are you under here?

Nope! Time to move on!

His fascination with himself was quite comical.
I'm not sure what to do about Roo.
Yes, I've already named him. Unfortunately.

I know nothing about chickens and winter is just around the corner.
He spends his days in our yard and his nights roosting up in our tree.

Those leaves will soon fall from that tree and he won't have as much protection.
I just don't know what I should do with him and it's a worry.

Critters keep adopting me and I had decided not to take any more in.
Darn it, Roo! I'm starting to like you.

Any friendly farm advice would be appreciated.

Last, But Not Least

I showed you yesterday all the goodies that I picked over the weekend.
I wanted to save this beauty for last.
I'm showing her last, but that doesn't mean she's the least.
She needs her own spotlight and deserves it.

Without further she is....

An antique crib. Sigh. Isn't she pretty?

And look at the cupids on both ends. This would make the prefect daybed.

Now what to do with her. Keep her or put her in my Old Time Pickers' shop?
Or I could save her until I open my Old Time Farmhouse shop.
Decisions. Decisions.
I like my job.

Pickin' Heaven

Did some flea markets over the weekend.
I knew that unexpected warm weather in November would bring out the vendors.
And I was right. I scored!
Pickin' heaven!

A little for me...jars for my pantry, a mailbox to redo, linens and lace for projects.
Some for my shops...crates, buckets, pewter, silver, and more.

Oh. And sleds. Four in all.
I found one more item that made my day.
I'll share that tomorrow.

Who Greets You?

When you arrive home, who is there to greet you?

Roo was the first to greet me today when I arrived home from getting groceries.
Isn't he handsome? And he's very friendly and enjoys my company.

Roo is not mine. I do not have chickens. I do not have a rooster. At least I didn't think I did.
He showed up weeks ago and is not interested in going back home.
I don't feed him, but he does spend his days chasing down the bugs in our yard.
He drinks from a neighbor's bird bath and eats their birdseed.

For now, he appears to be content with his life.
It's his story and I'm just one of the characters in it.
Of course, he's the main character.
I don't now what the future holds for him. Or us.
I guess I'll have to wait for the next chapter to be written.

Photo Break

Did I tell you that I bought a new camera?
This past spring.
Did I tell you that I can't operate it very well?
My photos suck.

While working outside, I decided to take a photo break.
Nature inspired photos.
There are so many camera settings it can be quite overwhelming.
So I fiddled with the settings.

And I fiddled with them some more.
I'm getting there, but still have a long way to go.
How about you?
Are you happy with your camera and your photos?

What's Up Blogger?

What's up Blogger?!?
Can ya not tell time!?!
I had it right.
You didn't.

Today, my party over at Old Time Farmhouse...was a tad late.
I set it up days ago.
Blogger has a schedule that can be set up for your your blog.
You can determine when your posts go live.
It's not hard.
It's there for convenience...if it works.

I set the party to go live at 6:00 am this morning.
I enjoy reading blogs first thing every morning with a cup of tea.
A cup of hot green tea with pomegranate...yum.
While sipping away, I causally glanced at the time.
It's after 6:00 so I thought I'd refresh my reader to view my party post.

Only, I could not find it.
Really? Where is it?
I went to my post list and there is sat.
As a draft.
I looked at the schedule.
Right day. Right time. Right time zone.
Right everything. And there is sat.
I had to go in and publish it myself which is no big deal.
But Blogger...ya drive me crazy!
