Eat Dessert First

I've had an interesting week...
I'm covered in poison ivy from trying to tame the front yard by the woods,
I put a bad slice in my finger when I was really trying to slice zucchini,
and I have a nasty knot on my head after a window prop fell smack dab on my head while shooting photos for the shop!

It's time for dessert. And chocolate has always been my favorite.

Brings to mind the year when my family had a summer get together, potluck style.
The grilling of the chicken wasn't cooperating and taking way too long.
I couldn't stand it any longer and pulled out the desserts cause we were all hungry.
And we ate dessert first.

In's okay to eat dessert first.
In fact, it's kind of fun.
Do the unexpected and enjoy yourself while ya can!
I'm eating chocolate.

Have a sweet weekend!

Bloomin' Bunnies Again

Last year, I did a post about my bloomin' bunnies in the garden.
They're back!

The momma makes a nest in the middle bed under my russian sage. The result?
I end up with the cutest little companions hopping around me in the garden.

This year is very interesting as they are very curious and come right up to me.
These photos are not taken with a zoom lens.
I do worry about them being a little too brave so I try to gently shoo them away as they get underfoot.
Doesn't faze them in the slightest!

And ya know what?
They don't nibble on any of my vegetables at all. Weird, huh?

Looks like there's some confusion about who momma is.
No, she's not the chippy figure in the pepper bed.

Silly baby bunny...LOL!

For The Senses

Lookin' good. Fresh food feeds the senses.

Smellin' divine. Freshly baked bread.
I haven't bought a loaf of bread for over 3 years.
I do cheat a little by using a bread machine.
My goal is to start making sourdough bread as it is much better for you.

Tastin' yummy. Fresh lettuce from the garden.
I have a 'salad bed' in the garden to have a good variety.
I'm surprised the spring crops are still doing well considering the hot weather.

Feelin' full. My blackberries are really producing this year.
What fun! I'm trying to come up with creative ways to use them all.
Of course, the squirrels are having a hey day getting what they consider their share.
I guess there are plenty of berries to go around.

Have a pickin' fresh weekend!

...busy and not blogging!

-Flew out to PA to see the new grand baby. Wish we didn't live so far away!

-Listing some new treasures in the shop. It really needed my attention!

-Playing in the garden. It touches my soul and feeds my spirit!

-Chopped my hair off all by myself. Went from a bob to a sassy short cut!

-Taking on some of hubby's responsibilities around the home. His job has changed and is taking up more of his time.

Yep, been busy.
I'll try to blog some this week.
Not making any promises though!

It's A Dirty Job

Didn't want to, but I needed to.
For my sanity, catch up, and a few other reasons...I've temporarily closed our Old Time Pickers shop.
So besides being on the road off and on, I'm on clean-up detail.
It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.

Most of the treasures we find for the shop have years worth of dirt and neglect.
That's what happens when they have been tossed in barns, basements, and sheds.

Now there are many shops out there that sell their items as is...dirt and all.
I can't do that! Not the way I want to do business.
So out comes the hose, bucket with Murphy Oil Soap, rags & brushes, and the good old sunshine.

Everything gets a quick scrub, fresh air, and sunshine.
They may not be perfect, but they are presentable and ready to be adopted!

All our clients are pleased with what they get. And this is what I get...broken and chipped nails, dirty hands, and grease under the fingernails that will not go away for days. Good trade off!

Raspberries and a Thief

My raspberry bushes are bursting with berries.
On my morning walk out to the garden to check on them, I saw something furry.
Now I've had a couple of baby bunnies living and hiding out at the base of the bushes, but I was pretty sure they had moved on.

Then I realized this little ball of fur was nestled  up in the bushes.
Coming closer, I discovered it was a squirrel all curled up on his back using the crisscrossing branches as a hammock and my berries as a delicious summer treat.

Really! That little bugger! The squirrels around here give me fits.
They think that all the work I do is just for them.
Fortunately, he left plenty of berries behind after I shooed him off.

I think I'll have a bowl topped with Greek yogurt for a morning snack.
I do love snacking...with fresh raspberries from the garden.

Prefer White

Confession...I collect white dishes.

Dishes with chips.
Dishes in various shades of whites.
New. Old.
Dishes that may have crazing.
Plain. Fancy. And everything in between.
I collect white dishes.

These are my latest and greatest.
See that embossed pattern around the rim? Yum!
Picked these up at a yard sale while passing through W. VA.
Who needs souvenirs when travelling?
I have my dishes.

When I was a child, I collected rocks from different states. Ha!

Now I still like rocks, but I prefer my white dishes.
White always brings some farmhouse flair to the table.

Go on over and find some fab friends!

P is for Pillow

Had me some fun making scrabble pillows as a wedding gift for my niece!
It's fun getting back into sewing. I've been away from it for ages.

I made these pillows with an envelope style back for easy care.
I stenciled the lettering with fabric paint after making the stencils with freezer paper.

I really appreciate all the bloggers out there who share their projects and know-how.
It makes this gal look like she can do anything!
