Seven Pounds

Did I lose seven pounds? No...I wish!

Did I gain seven pounds? No...thank goodness!

But I did gather seven pounds...seven pounds of Roma tomatoes!

Now I didn't take a picture of them, but that is a decent amount.

Want to know what seven pounds looks like after cooking it down?

There ya have it...two small containers of tomato sauce. LOL!

This is the results after a few hot hours in the kitchen.

This is my simple life!?! Yep, and I'm willing to do it all over again.

Need to get back in the kitchen. I hear some peppers callin' my name.

(Oh, does anyone know why blogger keeps putting white spaces in my posts?)

Been readin' all my old cookbooks. 

Been thinkin' of all the ways I can put up my produce.

Growing Catnip

This is my first attempt at growing catnip.

It has been very slow, but it's now beginning to look promising.

I seeded it in a galvanized bucket and Kit Kat just discovered it.

Lookin' good.

Smellin' wonderful!

I think she likes it!!!

What about you...have you ever grown catnip?

I was thinking of possibly drying it and making Kit Kat some toys.

Any tips or advice?

Takin' A Break

Needed to go outside and take a break.

Ya know how it is when you're on the computer way too long.

Been making decisions for Old Time Farmhouse.

While out, I made a new friend. 

Love having toads in the garden as they are great little helpers. 

Now if I could just get him to take a turn on the computer.

Good Monday Morning!

Did ya have a good weekend? I spent mine kickin' around some ideas for the business.

Actually, I've been kickin' these ideas around for so long that my toes are starting to hurt.

So I decided to get serious and take the plunge...slowly. 

What I'm planning is another online adventure and a close cousin to my Old Time Pickers shop.

It will be all about the farmhouse feel, my favorite decor and design.

It will take some time as I work out all the details,

but I'll let ya know when 'Old Time Farmhouse' is up and running.

It's Raining

Yippee!!!

It's raining! Finally!

We have been without rain for two months.

Besides me doing a happy dance, I'm sure my garden appreciates each and every drop.

Again...yippee!!!

Are Your Feet Serious About Pickin'?

When it comes to pickin', your feet are probably the last thing ya think about. And really, your feet may be one of the first things you need to consider. I love wearing my flip flops around the old homestead, but they are not meant for pickin'.

No, these are not my feet. My toes are camera shy. My toes and I took a vote and it was 10 to 1 so no photo of my feet. Anyhoo...when you are pickin', you will be on your feet a lot. You want and need comfort. There's also a safety issue. Ya don't want to head into a barn with flip flops or flimsy shoes. Just sayin'. 

My favorite pickin' footwear is heavier athletic shoes or what I call 'my clod hoppers'.

And ya need boots to fight off the rain and mud. 

Many a time, I take along an extra pair of shoes. Always be prepared...the pickers' motto. Or is that the boy scouts? Or is it the girl scouts? Pffftttt...it's the pickers' motto now.

Now hold up your right hand and repeat after me...

Pickin' Problem

When I go pickin', I look for things like this...

And treasures that are weathered and worn, like this...

And things that are pickin' cool that have rust and crust, like this...

But...I have a pickin' problem.

As a new grandma of the most adorable little girl, I can't help myself.

When pickin' yesterday, this is what came home with me.

Nothing else, but a pretty pink tutu with a matching headband.
My little sweet tater of a grandchild is going to be a fancy farm girl.
Yep. I'm now on the lookout for some cute little cowgirl boots to go with her tutu.
I've got some more pickin' to do! 

Hot Picks

Good Monday morning my pickin' friends!

It's been...Hot. Hot. Hot.

The weather's been extremely hot and uncomfortable for pickin'.

But we did manage to pick at a new hot spot we found.

Some hot picks liked us and hopped into our truck to came home with us.

They wanted their picture taken.

They think they're hot stuff.
